We are just a month after the start of Fortnite Season 8 and we are just about to receive the second major update in the form of 18.20. The previous update was huge despite not making too many drastic changes to the game.
We expect an equally huge update again with 18.20 which is now on the staging servers. Here’s everything we know so far about the next Fortnite update!
LAST – Days left
Fortnite update 18.20 will be with us on Tuesday, October 12, which means there will be server downtime soon.
We usually get confirmation of the update the day before through the official Fortnite Twitter account.
Fortnite update 18.20 release date and time
We are expecting Fortnite update 18.20 to be released on Tuesday, October 12. Whenever an update is uploaded to staging servers, it is usually due the following Tuesday.
There will be the usual server downtime alongside the fix. The servers should shut down at 9:00 a.m. BST / 4:00 a.m. EST / 1:00 a.m. PST. We usually get confirmation the day before the update. Downtime can sometimes be up to 3 hours, but last week’s update saw the servers come back after just 60 minutes.
There were a few anomalies with the download size of Fortnite Update 18.10. It was double the size on the Xbox and Nintendo consoles. No explanation was given for this, but it was likely due to overall file optimization issues.
There is no indication that the same issue will occur for this update. The overall file size should be less than 5GB like most updates, so you don’t need to panic too much to free up extra space on your hard drive.
Some new Fortnitemares content and skins will likely be added in Update 18.20. New skins are teased using Tarot cards and one of those cards seems to tease Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead.
It would be another huge collaboration for Fortnite and could also hint at more than a single character. You can also see Negen’s bat and Michonne’s Katana on the map!
