Joey Godfrey has been a regular for six years. Morrison is one of the reasons.
“It’s just rare these days that every time you interact with someone they’re smiling and happy,” Godfrey said.
But Morrison kept a secret. When she recently missed a few shifts, Godfrey asked her why.
“She leaned over and said, ‘I was diagnosed with bone cancer. I was diagnosed in March,'” Godfrey said.
Morrison has been with Waffle House for 37 years, so she has many loyal customers and caring colleagues who are like family. And her family rallies around her.
Godfrey has set up an online GoFundMe fundraiser to help with the medical bills that are coming in now.
Morrison will soon need a bone marrow transplant and could be out of work for several months.

She is not the type to ask for help and she had no idea that she was so loved.
“I had a few tears along the way,” Morrison said. “Hearing them say I was their favorite waitress really lifted my spirits.”
