JCPS adds new website feature for tracking bus delays


Jefferson County Public School parents have a new way to find bus route information. bus routes will be discovered regularly, requiring a second run to pick up students in the morning and drop them off in the afternoon. “We are doing everything we can to keep parents, guardians and students well informed of the challenges we face,” Marcus Dobbs, JCPS’ executive transportation administrator, said in a press release. “While we ask families to be patient, rest assured that we will ensure that all of our students get to and from school safely.” They will be notified of any delays planned by their child’s school via the School Messenger system. They can also call 485-RIDE for transportation information.

The district has added a “Bus Delay Dashboard” to its website that will contain the most up-to-date route information.

Due to an unexpected driver shortage, some JCPS bus routes will be routinely uncovered, requiring a second trip to pick up students in the morning and drop them off in the afternoon.

“We are doing everything we can to keep parents, guardians and students well-informed of the challenges we face,” Marcus Dobbs, JCPS’ executive transportation administrator, said in a press release. “While we ask families for their patience, rest assured that we will ensure that all of our students get to and from school safely.”

Parents and guardians can check the JCPS dashboard every Saturday after 2 p.m. for changes in the coming week.

They will be notified of expected delays by their child’s school via the School Messenger system.

They can also call 485-RIDE for transportation information.
